A three dimensional real-time heat transfer model for continuous casting blooms

Heat transfer model is the basis for control and optimization of continuous casting steel. In this paper, a three dimensional (3D) real-time heat has been presented blooms, especially initial final stages. To be real-time, an algorithm based on inheritable variable non-uniform grid time steps developed, accelerating 3D by 110~200 times. Meanwhile, discrete parameters including step have optimized, influence central processing units (CPUs) programming languages also studied. Then relative calculation time, which ratio to physical reduced 0.62 while numerical errors are within 0.74%. Further, reduce uncertainty model, machine-dependent appearing in thermo-physical properties boundary conditions calibrated with measurements surface temperature thermometer shell-thickness nail-shooting, then corresponding problem minimizing between solved particle swarm algorithm. After calibration, model's obviously reduced. Finally, verified online measurement it shows good agreement as less than ±10°C.
